Business No Comments »

by Bobbie McKee

Florida

This state is perfect to visit all-year round. With theme parks galore in Orlando alone, there's sure to be a place or two able to welcome last-minute travelers like you. While in Florida, you can also head off to Miami and enjoy its beaches and exciting nightlife. For more adventure, you can book a day trip to Key West and enjoy its exotic locale. In Key West, make sure you set aside a portion of your day for fishing and shopping.

New England Coast

If you need a last-minute destination during the fall, there's no better place to pick than the New England Coast. Its spectacular fall foliage is famous worldwide and you can enjoy it for free just by walking around. The same beauty shall greet you whether you're traveling to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, or some other place in the New England coast.

Paris

Lovers will always have Paris at any time of the year. Sure, it's crowded all the time, but you don't really notice things like that when you're in love, do you? In Paris, you immediately know a couple of well-known attractions to visit and activities to check out. Besides the ever-famous Eiffel Tower, there's also Versailles Palace to check out. You know as well that it's imperative to give the street-lining cafes a try for authentic French cuisine, to walk around and just enjoy the romantic atmosphere and appreciate the works of Bohemian artists.

New York

Another city you won't lack for excitement is the Big Apple. But beware, native New Yorkers don't like it when people refer to NYC as the Big Apple. Because it's a city that never sleeps, you'll always find something to see or do no matter what time you get there. Just be careful of pickpockets. That's one authentic NYC experience you can certainly do without!

Nevada

Like NYC, Nevada or Las Vegas in particular is a city that comes especially alive at night. If you think gambling is the only thing to do in Vegas, think again. You can drop by at Caesar's Palace, for instance, at certain times in the evening and you'll be treated by a special presentationfor free.

California

First stop: Hollywood. Walk around Beverly Hills, buy a map to know where the stars live, walk a couple of minutes more and you can spot a famous actor or two while shopping in any of the equally famous boutiques lining the streets. A food tour won't be amiss because Cali is a melting pot of various cultures! You'll see a Thai restaurant right next to a fine-dining French restaurant and a fastfood joint.

London

History buffs wanting to do some last minute travel should immediately head to London. There, you can visit Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, and let's not forget London Bridge, the ultimate star of nursery rhymes. If you have extra time, check out Thames Park - this used to be the most fashionable place for nobility to see and be seen.

Hawaii

Hawaii has nice tropical weather all year round. They may have stormy bouts once in a while, but the weather channel will easily let you know if visiting the islands now would be bad timing. In Hawaii, you can enjoy luaus after frolicking in the beach.

Egypt

Pyramids! There's no need to think when you get to Egypt. You can also try riding a camel and visit the various museums found in Cairo.

Shanghai

Take advantage of the currently welcoming regime in China and see the secret wonders of this once-forbidden country. The language barrier could take a bit getting used to but the extremely cheap cost-of-living makes struggling with Mandarin worth every second.

How to Motivate Procrastinators

Business No Comments »
by Bobbie McKee

A lot of people are guilty of waiting until the last minute to do something important. Some people say that they really have a lot of work to begin with, and some things simply have to wait on the back burner and thus end up being done at the last minute. Other people say that they love the energy of the last minute working schedule, where they are driven almost entirely by adrenalin.

Still, other people use the excuse of procrastination to look like they are working hard on something, when all that they have done is to wait until the last minute in order to look like they actually have a lot to work with, when they could have done things little by little every day and still met the deadline without going through the stress.

In any case, procrastination is difficult to deal with, and if you get used to it, it can be a difficult habit to get rid of, much less deal with. In fact, procrastination in school can only be the bad beginning to a clumsy career, and if you procrastinate all your life, you may as well put yourself in the hospital or the stress will mess with you and your family. On the other hand, if you would like to help someone do better and get themselves out of the procrastination habit, then you can use the following tips to motivate them to get off their bottoms and start working:

- Don't be self-righteous. You were a procrastinator, too, and you may have fallen into the Last Minute Trap at one time or another. The key to motivating anyone is to show them that they can get out of the habit because someone has done it before. Talk to them about your own experiences.

You can compare your work quality between something that you did when you were near a deadline and something that you did little by little and passed on time without worrying whether you would actually turn up alive at passing time. You can also compare what the last minute work did to your health, and how you were able to get yourself to do better.

- Set a good example. It will not do your apprentice any good if you as the master are as bad a procrastinator, or even worse. You cannot motivate someone to change if you do not show them how, so be prepared to show your stuff as you meet your own deadlines.

- Be open to questions. A procrastinator can be willing to change, and you may have some advice to offer.

- Offer the person rewards for a deadline well met, say a few days before. If this person is your child or sibling, you can offer money or a treat at a nearby restaurant as a reward. If this person is your co-worker or classmate, then treat yourselves to a movie or a game night if you are able to meet your deadlines well.

- The opposite works, too: if you are not able to procrastinate, find a way to slightly punish yourselves, say by cleaning your house or apartment, not going out for a few rounds of beer, or not spending over $5 for your dinner out.

- Encourage the person to set their own deadlines. Having a deadline days or weeks before the real deadline can make them more motivated since they're breaking their own records!

Merchant Account Types that are Suitable for Business Needs

Business No Comments »
by Bobbie McKee

Merchant account refers to an account that a specific merchant deals with a bank to be able to accept credit card payments and orders from its customers. Because of being a lucrative business option, more and more people are have merchant account providers in the last years. However, there have been many issues surrounding merchant accounts and its providers over the years.

One of the common problems that people who deal with merchant account experience is the confusion which type that would suit their needs. To avoid confusion, as well as other problems that will come along the way, it is best if you familiarize yourself with the types of merchant accounts available. Aside from sparing you from financial difficulties, knowing the different types available will also help you decide which one will be the best option for your interest.

There are three different types of merchant account available depending on the need of the client or the business itself. Experts have categorized types of merchant accounts into three. The first type is the "retail" which is one of the most popular merchant account types out there. This is because many businesses especially those that are related in food such as restaurants, lodging such as hotels, and daily needs such as grocery stores avail of this type. They choose this because the "retail" type offers lower fees without compromising the quality. Some say that the rules implemented by retail account providers are more strict so they can make up for the lesser rates they give for a service.

The second type is the "MOTO" or mail order-telephone order charges higher rates for services because it requires more effort for any transaction to be made. Experts say that the MOTO accounts were created to cater to the credit card processing needs of those mail order companies when they receive sales or other transactions with the use of either mail and telephone line. This type of merchant account is usually more expensive because it uses more pieces of equipment like modern technologies-through the personal computer complete with accessories needed like the keypad and the physical terminal as well as the software needed for the program to run effectively.

The third type is the "Internet" which is very similar to the cost, the set of rules, and the means of using the "MOTO". The only difference is that it is more organized and more updated. Here, the transactions are being made using a virtual terminal that play as the "gateway" for payments and other processes that are being made. The internet type of merchant account uses usually uses a program that is custom-designed for its clientele such as the HTML format or the shopping cart format when dealing with payment processes and transactions.

People who don't have much knowledge on these types would be easily confused since they all adhere to a common policy-to ensure that there is efficient merchant account processing. But, when closely examined, there are great differences in these types, which cannot be ignored. When these differences are not identified early and properly, it can be detrimental to the business itself.

Experts say that the major differences among these three types is the rates or charges they have when it comes to transaction fees and the rules they implement in terms of account usage.

Internet Merchant Account

Business No Comments »
by Bobbie McKee

Online businesses are part of the ever changing and improving market. But how can online businesses accept payments when transactions and products are online displayed online. Accepting payments through the business's website can be done with the help of an internet merchant account and provider.

To accept online payments by a credit card, the business owner should have an Internet merchant account with an acquiring institution. There are three steps between the customer paying for the purchase and the business owner's bank account:

The first step of the first layer is called the payment gateway. The payment gateway provides the code that will transmit the customer's order to and from the internet merchant account provider. The payment gateway enables the business owner to accept the customer billing information and the necessary validation steps that must be followed.

The payment gateway is the means of getting the secured transactions to the merchant provider for an authorization, think of it as a Point of Sale terminal for the internet. The payment gateway is provided and setup by the internet merchant account provider.

The payment gateway can also be linked to a secured shopping cart for e-commerce business owners. The shopping cart is a secured portal that allows the customers to enter in their information, credit card number and then send the transaction to the payment gateway. From here the transaction goes to the merchant account provider and then a confirmation email is sent to the business owner informing them that a customer has made a purchase.

Then the merchant account provider will enable you to accept the payments from the customers. A merchant account is an account with a financial institution or bank that enables you to accept credit card payments. There are some banks who still do not offer internet merchant account capability. There are some financial institutions and banks that are not providing online payments because online transactions can be prone to credit card fraud.

Online payment are classified as car-not-present transactions or CNP, because it is impossible to check the card and the cardholder. If a transaction proves to fraudulent, the money will be reclaimed from the business owner's bank account. This fraudulent event is called the chargeback. Even if a a cardholder-not-presents is authorized by the cardholder's bank, this does not necessary guarantee payment.

To protect online customers, there are SSL Certificates that can be used too create a secure channel to transmit credit card information from the business website to the internet merchant account processing network, receive the results and post them back to the business website.

The third step is back to the website. Regardless of the internet merchant service provider or payment gateway, the website still needs to integrate with the service providers. There are detailed instructions given by the service providers.

There are some requirements needed whenever a business would like to have an internet merchant account. The business owner must have checking account with a bank. If the person, in case, do not have a checking account with any bank, there are acquiring institutions that can set up the account to be used in processing the payments.

Making your business process credit card payments over the internet is one of the fastest growing transactions today. There are many incentives by getting an internet merchant account provider. It is hassle free, comprehensive and can increase sales and profits that you get from the business.

3 Golf Swing Drills to Improve Your Putting

Business No Comments »
by Bobbie McKee

After hitting the ball as close to the hole as possible, it is just a matter of putting so you can move on to the next one. While this may sound easy given the short distance, there are still some who have a hard time. To help you out, here are 4 golf swing drills you can try.

The first is the one handed drill. You do this by practice putting ten balls using only your training hand. This drill lets you focus on the palm of your hand as it moves towards the cup.

Next, practice putting using your target hand. The emphasis here is for you to concentrate on your back hand moving towards the cup.

When you do this drill using either hand, be conscious of the toe of your putter in the follow through. Should this turn away from the cup or point toward it, this means you are turning your hand. So you know you are doing it right, the face of the putter should be square to the cup.

Another drill is to practice putting with one eye. Some golfers do this because it stops them from lifting their head prematurely. If you have played this game often, you can even try putting with your eyes closed.

But won't closing your eyes make it harder for you to see where the ball is going? Yes but research has shown that when you try to putt with your eyes open, there is interference with the brain/muscle control system. By closing your eyes, you are relying more on your hands to guide the ball into the hole. And how will you know if the ball goes in? By simply using your sense of hearing.

To do this, you have to practice first putting first with your eyes open at a range of 10 to 50 feet from the hole. After putting these balls with your eyes open, do the same thing this time with your eyes closed. If the ball goes in the hole, you know that sink the ball with your eyes closed.

Another eyes closed technique involves dropping some balls to the ground and just putting them. The objective here is simply to let you feel how the stroke flows back and forth. Do the same thing also with your eyes open. Now that you know the difference, try to incorporate that when you are putting the balls into the hole.

The last golf swing drill is called the alignment drill. To do this, you lay two clubs on the green about six inches apart and make sure that they are parallel to each other. Now putt the ball to see if your stroke is aligned at impact and steady on the back and forward stroke. Do this several times and if you get tired, take a break and rest for a while before resuming the drill.

Practicing some golf swing putting drills like those mentioned will surely help you improve on your game. Who knows? You might even win when you are playing 18 holes with friends. If you can do that at short distances, the only thing to practice on now is your long game because this is just as important as the short game.
