1. Select Gathering Professions

If you choose profession such as Jewelmaking, Blacksmithing, Enchanting or Inscription you'll most likely end up spending thousands and thousands over the course of levelling. They are great once they have been levelled up but it's very expensive and takes a lot of time and energy to get there.

Mining, Herbalism and Skinning are much easier and more affordable professions. You can find a lot of the things you need just through questing. You can also sell these items in the Auction House if you want to.

Herbalism's popularity as a profession has skyrocketed ever since the launch of Inscriptions with WOTLK. Low level herbs like Earthroot and Peacebloom can now be sold for a unproportionally high 10 - 30 gold per stack.

Before I reached level 10 on a new character I recently started, I had already reached 90 gold - this was 100% due to Herbalism.

2. Certain items exist in WoW that you can buy from vendors for resale.

You'll find that some of these items are a bit out of the way for low level players. Another way you can benefit is to buy these items in the Auction House and then choose to resell them using an Alt. One such item is the first aid training book.

You'll find that in some realms you can easily sell these items for 5 times the purchase price.

3. Take up Cooking as soon as you can.

This is not a gold farming tip as such but it is worthwhile knowing. Farming and grinding get much easier if you choose to have Cooking as a Profession. Furthermore you save a lot of money not needing to buy food and water, and you can level the skill up easily by collecting meats during questing.

Don't think about gold farming purely as killing creatures to get gold and items. Think about how you can use your profession to cash in on the benefits of questing. By doing this you'll be much richer in the long run.

Inventory space can be a real challenge on World of Warcraft You are only allowed a certain amount of inventory space, and as you level up you will eventually face the inevitable question of "to keep or not to keep?" A pack rat's ultimate nightmare.

The first thing you should do is to take advantage of the slots that are available to you...Bank slots, Bag slots, and character slots. You can create up to 5 characters on each server, so create a low level chracter and put them near their respective auction houses.

Buy Netherweave Bags for 5g to 7g, these are 16-slot bags that you can equip your characters with. Another bag to look at are Traveller's Backpack, these are not soulbound so you can transfer them to your other characters. By equipping your characters with the 16-slot bags you're already taking advantage of the bag slots available to you.

You can maximize your bank slots by buying the slots available there. The first few slots are quite cheap and useful when you start making gold. It's not that expensive to buy the 25g slot, it's definitely worth it in the long run.

As a last resort (And many people are doing this) You can also set up your own banking guild. Just stand around in some of the major cities like Undercity, Orgrimmar, Stormwind and ask people to sign your guild charter. Some people do this by offering gold in exchange for signatures, it's one of the ways I made money when I was still new.

Anyway, so if youre still really lacking bank space, perhaps you could start your own banking guild, just stand around Stormwind, Undercity, or Orgrimmar and ask people to sign your guild charter. Its a very cheap and easy way to get a lot more free space.

Choosing a server on World of Warcraft can be a tough decision. There are so many different realms to choose from and so many options. It would be nice to have a checklist of what you want your server to have, a certain customisation on how you want to play the game.

So in order to play the auction house game, I need to find a very populated server so I can take advantage of their economy.

Jonathan Kenins suggests I go to WarcraftRealms.com to help me determine the population of a particular server. This website uses an add-on to do a census on each server on either US or EU WoW. It will help you get an idea on how many Horde or how many Alliance players are on a particular server.

A couple of things that you need in order to make a lot of money on a particular server: A populated server - More people means a higher demand for items, so they're more higher priced than that of a server with not a lot of people.

A balanced population - Actually this goes both ways, you can either choose a balanced population between Horde and Alliance OR you can choose to be on a server that has a bit less population for the side that you want to play on, because the side with less players will usually have higher prices. Higher prices means it's easier to make some good money if you know how to play your cards right.

You can either go PVE or PVP. Depending on the way you want to play World of Warcraft. If you want to make money, you'd be better off on a PVE server than a PVP. Getting ganked while gathering goods in the wild is NOT fun. So PVE is a better choice for that way of playing.

Once you have narrowed your choices down to 2 or 3 servers based on the guidelines above. Jonathan Kenins advice is to make level 1 characters on each server. 1 on each faction and bring them to their proper auction houses. Stormwind for Alliance and Undercity for Horde. Do a scan, monitor prices for high-end herbs like Tiger Lily, Deadnettle, Goldclover, etc, 40g a stack would be a good price for these herbs.

Have a look at Mithril Bars, Cobalt Ores, gems, and other trade goods that you know usually go for a good price. Youre basically looking for prices that are on the higher-end rather than on the low end. If these things are not going for a decently high price, then that server probably isnt suitable for you, it means that there is not enough wealth on that server to support very high prices.

Good news for pet fans on World Of Warcraft. Pets are not only cute and fun to collect, but they are also a good source of gold if you know how to work this to your advantage.

Take the White Kitten for example, you can buy White Kittens from Lil Timmy who wanders around Stormwind, for 60s each. These are limited supply items so they are quite difficult to obtain. Its worth it though, as you can sell the kittens for 100g to 250g on the alliance auction house, and up to 500g if you do cross-faction trading and sell it on the horde side.

Another huge gold-maker is the Black Tabby. You can get Black Tabbys as a drop from the Dalaran Spellscribes in Silverpine Forest. These are level 21 mages which spawn every 4 hours.

It doesn't take very long to get Black Tabby drops because the drop rates for this item is quite high. You just need a bit of patience due to the 4 hour spawn interval. A good way to effectively farm these things is to at least have a level 20 character in order to kill this mob easily.

There are 3 spawn spots for the Dalaran Spellscribe, they are all within Amber Mill in Silverpine Forest. The first spawn spot is the second shack on the left when you're standing right in the entrance of the compound. The second one is the main building right in front of you, it should spawn in the largest room there. The third Dalaran Spellscribe spawn spot is inside the building which is the farthest to your right.

Sitting there all day is not necessary. All you have to do is position your character and log in every couple of hours to check if the Dalaran Spellscribe has re-spawned. You can type "/target dalaran" or use a macro to see if he has indeed re-spawned, if he has then just kill him and get your loot.

If you are consistent in doing this, you will be able to get 3 or more Black Tabby Cats a week. You will be able to sell them for 500g to 600g in the horde auction house. However, if you really want a lot more gold for your effort, you can sell them through cross-faction trading, Black Tabbys normally go for 1500g to 2500g each if you sell them in the neutral auction house or the alliance auction house.

So thats really a lot of gold considering its not very hard to get. It doesnt even have to take a lot of patience, because you just have to be consistent in logging in and checking re-spawns.
